Background & Why We Work Here
Pakistan has one of the largest populations of bonded laborers in the world, with thousands of Christian families trapped in brick kiln labor. These workers, including young children, women, and men, are forced into hard labor for long hours to repay small loans, often as little as $500-$1000.
This generational debt bondage means that children are born into slavery, with no access to education, healthcare, or basic human rights. Christian families working in brick kilns face severe discrimination, oppression, and abuse.
Challenges Faced by Kiln Workers
❌ Debt Slavery – Families work 14-16 hours a day to pay off loans, yet their debt never decreases due to corrupt labor systems.
❌ Child Labor & No Education – Children as young as 7 years old are forced to mold bricks, with no opportunity to attend school.
❌ Health Hazards & Malnutrition – Workers inhale toxic fumes and suffer from lung diseases, malnutrition, and dehydration.
The Need
To rescue and rehabilitate bonded laborers, we must provide:
✅ Debt Freedom Programs – Paying off small debts to release families from slavery.
✅ Alternative Livelihood Programs – Training kiln workers in skills like tailoring, farming, and small businesses to break free from labor dependency.
✅ Education for Children – Establishing informal schools at brick kiln sites to teach basic literacy and Christian education.
✅ Legal Support & Advocacy – Fighting against illegal bonded labor practices and protecting freed families from re-enslavement.
✅ Food & Medical Aid – Providing nutritious food, clean water, and medical treatment for workers and their children.
📌 Prayer Request: More resources to free Christian families from bondage, provide education for children, and establish safe housing for freed families.
